In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Edgewater Systems hosted over 200 community leaders, mental health and social service providers, and community residents at its 9th Annual Ambassadors for Edgewater, Mental Health Awareness Luncheon on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Avalon Manor in Merrillville from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Attendees included Gary, IN Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson; Calumet Township Trustee, Kimberly Robinson; Lake County Prosecutor, Bernard A. Carter; and Councilwoman Linda Barnes-Cladwell and other civic and community leaders.

The main speaker for the afternoon was Dr. Lonise Bias an internationally known motivational speaker, trainer, certified youth and family life coach and consultant.  Dr. Bias was introduced by Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes, President and CEO of Edgewater, who began her introduction by stating, “Mental illness is no different from any other physical illness.”

Edgewater Systems Employee Appreciation Award Presentation hosted by Edgewater Systems’ Customer Service Committee recognized a combined 140 years of employee anniversaries. The event was designed to be inclusive to all faculty and staff and provide a celebratory forum for employees to socialize, connect with peers, and receive a plethora of information ….and that they did! More importantly to congratulate our peers for their outstanding years of service. We recognize that our achievements and longevity are due to the dedication and hardworking, driven Edgewater family.

Hon. Toni Preckwinkle addresses Mental Health in her presentation on Monday February 13, 2017 at the Gary Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon. The event was sponsored by Edgewater. This video also features Edgewater’s President and CEO, Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes commenting on Edgewater’s role in providing Mental Health crisis services to Northwest Indiana.

Leaders from nine Northwest Indiana health care institutions gathered at Indiana University School of Medicine – Northwest – Gary (IUSM-NW-G) on Tuesday, Jan. 24 to sign a formal letter of intent leading to the creation of the Northwest Indiana Graduate Medical Education Consortium (NWI GME). The signatures represent a promise from leading health care providers
