Edgewater Behavioral Health Services/ Edgewater Systems- known for more than 43 years for providing quality and diverse behavioral health services to the Northwest Indiana community—announced today that it is changing its name to Edgewater Health. The name change reflects the organization’s broader health care commitment that now includes delivering a comprehensive set of primary care service in addition to its traditional services for mental health and addictions.
“Simple and straightforward, Edgewater Health will be the umbrella under which all of our services can thrive” said Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes. “We are excited to expand to primary care services and this name will help us achieve this goal. Our scope of care has broadened, and we are pleased to have a name that complements this change. Edgewater Health signals an understanding that good healthcare takes both physical and mental health into account.”
The event was attended by several community partners, residents, and regional and state elected officials. The event began with an invocation by Rev. Dwight Gardner, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Speakers at the event included Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes, President and CEO of Edgewater Health; Dr. Sharon Jonson Shirley, Chairperson of the Edgewater Board and Superintendent of Lake Ridge School Corporation, as well as State Rep. Charlie Brown.
